For anyone who’s ever stepped on a skateboard, Steve Caballero needs no introduction. As one of the original members of the Bones Brigade, Steve helped define what skateboarding could be creative and stylish. From inventing the “Caballerial” to shaping the skate culture in the 1980s, his influence runs deep. And decades later, that same energy is still alive. Only now, you’re just as likely to find Steve chasing the stoke on singletrack as in a skatepark.
From Skate Parks to Jump Parks and Singletracks
These days, Steve’s passion for wheels has shifted to the dirt. As an avid mountain biker, he brings the same instinct for line choice, rhythm, and flow that made him a legend on a board. Through a mutual mountain biking friend, we connected with Steve and right away, the conversations were about more than just rides. They were about art, legacy, and how those worlds could merge.
Born from Art Night
If you know Steve, you know he’s never stopped creating. He still paints, draws, and sketches during his weekly art nights, where he and a circle of friends get together to make art, no rules attached.
One of those nights sparked a new idea, or maybe it was an old one finally finding the right home. For years, Steve had imagined a glove design that didn’t just show his iconic dragon but became part of it. Something that felt like the dragon’s claw gripping the bars. That concept evolved into what would become the Steve Caballero Signature Glove.
When we saw the sketch and heard the story behind it, we knew this wasn’t just another collab. It was a creative vision that had been waiting for the right partnership to bring it to life. Steve was stoked and so were we.
WATCH HOW THE ART WAS CREATED
The Dragon, Reimagined
The dragon has followed Caballero across every chapter of his life. From skateboard decks, apparel and even his own action figure, it’s his symbol of creativity, strength, and reinvention. This glove is the next evolution of that legacy: a piece of gear that blends functionality with storytelling, made for the kind of rides that keep Steve inspired today.
Full Circle
At TASCO, we’ve always stayed true to our own roots in action sports. Many of us came up skating and surfing through the ’80s and ’90s - the same era that fueled Steve’s rise. So to create a glove with one of the most influential riders in history feels a little surreal.
We’re beyond honored to help bring his vision that started with a sketch, a story, and a dragon to life.
