Another Stellar Weekend at the 2019 Sea Otter Classic with the TASCO MTB Tribe
Well, we're already in withdrawal from the 2019 Sea Otter Classic but what a week it was ripping trails with our TASCO Tribe members! From the Expo to the Downhill course, the Women's XC race to the Dual Slalom, the TASCO Tribe was out in force soaking it all in.
We kicked off Thursday watching the XC and Enduro racing as the masses slowly trickled into the expo. At first, we were unsure of what the Otter would have in store for us as the winds whipped up on Thursday evening sending tents flying into the lake!
RECON Ultralight Glove Launch
But did we have a surprise in store! Just in time for the Sea Otter Classic, we launched a brand new glove: the RECON Ultralight! It's super duper minimal and crafted especially for those who want to wear a glove but feel like they aren't.
Take your pick from the Cyan Pop, Stealth (featured here) or the Bob (aka Marley). Want to get your hands on a pair? Place an order now!
Still not convinced these might be your new favorite gloves? Well SoCal Cyclist named the RECON Ultralights to their Top 5 under $50 at the festival!
Enduro Racing at the Sea Otter Classic
We were thrilled to watch one of our youngest TASCO Tribe members, Makena Kellerman, at just 15 years old, take 6th in the Junior Women Enduro Race! Yew! And then Tribe member Cole Fiene at 19 years of age came away with 2nd after 4 runs down the Enduro course. Way to work hard against a stacked field!
We even managed some time to pedal with the youngsters just before sunset.
Friday Night Footdown
Once again, Friday Night Footdown was one of the highlights of the day at Sea Otter, with our very own Nate Miller, founder of TASCO MTB, taking the mic and emceeing the event!
Downhill Dreams at the Otter
We had so many TASCO Tribe members competing at Downhill, from adaptive rider Jeremy McGhee to our photographer Jesse Polay and Nico Johnson.
TASCO Tribe Steps It Up for the XC Race
By the time Sunday rolled around, we were craving sleep, but dragged ourselves outta bed at sunrise to the Sea Otter Start line to watch the stacked Pro Women's field roll out.
From Nikki, Jen and Emma of the KS Kenda Women's team, to Tira Denny, Gwendalyn Gibson (congrats on that 9th place finish!!), Kelly Catale and Fairlee Frey. In the women's junior 17-18 field Madysen Rails took home 4th place. Yeah Mady!
In the Men's fields we had TASCO Tribe member Blake Wray take the W in the Juniors 15-16 Category, racing along with Tribe members Ethan Villaneda and Zane Lyon. Besides the Junior racers, we also watched as Ethan Sanchez, Simon Planken and Cynthia Miranda tackled the hilly XC course.
We loved seeing all of them out on the course and under the TASCO tent this weekend.
In addition to the racing, we had so much fun in the booth! Thank you to everyone who helped us hold down the fort: Adam, Will, Anna, Meredith and Nate! Also a big thanks to everyone who stopped by for a Bad Sea Coffee cold brew or beers in the afternoon from our friends at Pizza Port.
Thank you all for sharing the TASCO stoke and we look forward to seeing you at the next event!
